walt.id is an open-source infrastructure for decentralized digital identity and digital wallets, developed by the walt.id team based in Europe. The platform enables governments, businesses, and developers to issue, verify, and manage verifiable credentials, launch identity wallets, and provide passwordless authentication. Aligned with global standards such as W3C, ISO, OIDF, and IETF, and regulations like eIDAS 2.0 and GDPR, walt.id is used by over 30,000 developers and organizations across multiple industries worldwide.

walt.id solves the complexity of implementing decentralized identity solutions by offering a modular and multi-platform infrastructure. It facilitates the issuance and verification of digital credentials, eliminates password dependency, prevents identity fraud, and helps organizations comply with data protection regulations like GDPR and eIDAS 2.0.

Provides multi-platform libraries in Kotlin, Java, and JavaScript for cryptographic operations, DID management, and verifiable credentials. Enables credential issuance in W3C VC formats (JWT, SD-JWT, JSON-LD) and mdoc (ISO 18013-5). Includes white-label wallet applications for web and mobile that users can customize. Supports OpenID4VC protocols for interoperable issuance and verification. Deployed via Docker and can run on cloud or on-premise infrastructure.

Aligned with W3C standards (DID, VC), ISO (18013-5 for mDL/mdoc), OIDF (OpenID4VC, OpenID4VCI, OpenID4VP), IETF (SD-JWT), and European regulations like eIDAS 2.0. Supports multiple DID methods including did:key, did:jwk, did:web, did:cheqd, and did:ebsi.
