GNU Health is a comprehensive ecosystem designed to facilitate health management for doctors, hospitals and health ministries. It offers desktop, mobile and web applications that allow authentication, geolocation, resource management, records and services, in addition to ensuring data interoperability. This system is based on principles of social medicine, seeking to improve accessibility to medical records and hospital administration in developing economies. GNU Health is an NGO initiative focused on providing healthcare and education through the use of free software, offering solutions for the Electronic Medical Record, Hospital Management and Health Information System.
GNU Health solves the problem of limited and unequal access to healthcare by providing comprehensive tools for assessing and improving the determinants of health, from socioeconomic factors to the molecular basis of diseases. It offers solutions ranging from social medicine and public health to bioinformatics, thereby improving global healthcare.
Modular Design: Offers flexibility by allowing healthcare facilities to choose specific modules that fit their needs. Main components include: Main components that make up the GNU Health ecosystem include: Social Medicine and Public Health Hospital Management (HMIS) Laboratory Management (Occhiolino) Personal Health Record (MyGNUHealth) Bioinformatics and Medical Genetics Thalamus and Federated health networks GNU Health embedded on Single Board devices Electronic Health Records (EHR): Manages patient data effectively, streamlining the process of accessing and updating health records. Laboratory Integration: Seamlessly integrates with laboratory information systems for efficient test management and reporting. Multi-Platform Support: Operates on various platforms, including Linux and FreeBSD, ensuring broad compatibility. Comprehensive Medical Coverage: Supports a range of medical specializations and services, from pediatrics to surgery, ensuring holistic patient care.
Built with Python: leverages Python to provide flexibility and adaptability. Manages data with PostgreSQL, ensuring robust and secure information handling. Enhances modularity and extensibility by integrating with the Tryton framework. Incorporates advanced security protocols, such as encryption and digital signatures, to protect information. Complies with WHO standards, ensuring global applicability and promoting interoperability in the health sector.
