The Harmonization and Generation of Social Indicators Process for Latin America and the Caribbean facilitates the comparison of social data through three repositories. These repositories allow the harmonization of household surveys and censuses, as well as the estimation of social indicators from harmonized databases. The "armonizacion_microdatos_encuestas_hogares_scl" repository organizes data from 26 countries in the region, standardizing variables to ensure comparability. It includes STATA scripts to transform and unify data, stored in folders by country and survey, with additional documentation to guide the harmonization process.
Presents the processes used to generate comparable data between countries and over time. These processes are fundamental to understanding the methodology behind the generation of social indicators, making it easier for them to be replicated and allowing users to gain a deeper understanding of how they are estimated.
To use the tool, you must go to the corresponding repositories, read the ReadMes and identify the countries, years or variables to analyze. If you want to download the repositories to your computer, you can clone them to have them available locally.
The source code is openly and freely available, promoting access to tool development for social indicators.
