MOSIP
What is it?

The Modular Open Source Identity Platform (MOSIP) helps governments and other user organizations cost-effectively deploy a foundational digital identity system. Nations can freely use MOSIP to build their own identity systems. Because it is modular in architecture, MOSIP gives countries flexibility in how they deploy and configure their systems and helps avoid vendor lock-in. This tool harnesses the power of open source and adopts best practices in scalability, security, and privacy.

What problems does it solve?

MOSIP solves the difficulty of implementing secure and scalable digital identity systems, providing a modular solution that allows governments to develop systems tailored to their needs without the risk of vendor lock-in.

How does the tool work?

Provides an open-source foundational digital identity platform for government and international organization use. Version 1.2.0 LTS features new services and documentation enhancements for robust identity systems. Offers comprehensive resources including source code, containerized applications, and a Maven repository. Encourages community contributions to foster global public good and continuous platform improvement. Supports learning and development through MOSIP Academy and a variety of online resources.

Open standards

Implements robust security protocols, ensuring authorization via OAuth 2.0 and authentication with OpenID Connect. Utilizes JWT for secure token-based identity management. Employs standard data formats like JSON and XML for information exchange. Adopts RESTful APIs to ensure interoperability and ease of integration with various systems. Implements containers with Docker and orchestrates with Kubernetes for efficient management. Integrates relational databases like PostgreSQL and uses ORM frameworks for database interactions.
