Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP)

OCCRP Aleph is an investigative data platform that helps journalists follow the money. It provides public access to a vast archive of government records and open databases, although much of the archive is protected due to data protection concerns. Access is granted on a case-by-case basis to journalists and activists. Aleph is not just a document search engine; It also imports structured data from spreadsheets and databases. This allows journalists to explore detailed data on persons of interest, companies and financial transactions. Users can upload their own files, extract text, create diagrams, and cross-reference for their research.
Aleph solves the problem of lack of access and organization of crucial data for journalistic investigations and transparency. It provides a platform that allows journalists and activists to explore and analyze structured data about people, companies and financial transactions, facilitating the tracking of assets and corporate ownership.

Aleph is built on Follow-The-Money and extends interoperability with exports to CSV, Excel, and RDF. Its dataset catalog reuses DCAT and Schema.org, facilitating metadata syndication and indexing by search engines or SPARQL endpoints, keeping the flow of financial intelligence open.
