Vota Inteligente is a citizen participation web platform designed to strengthen democracy in Chile. It allows individuals and organizations to propose initiatives to electoral candidates, who can adopt them as part of their campaign commitments. Citizen proposals, once published, can receive support to be seriously considered by candidates. Developed by the Fundación Ciudadano Inteligente for the 2017 Chilean elections, Vota Inteligente has gotten presidential and parliamentary candidates to commit to 12 citizen initiatives. To date, it has the active participation of 100 organizations, has facilitated the creation of 700 citizen proposals and has attracted more than 220,000 visitors after the first electoral round. This success inspired the creation of similar platforms, expanding the scope of citizen participation in the electoral process.
The platform aims to make electoral positions more transparent, allowing for better-informed voting decisions by highlighting the commitments of parliamentary and presidential candidates in Chile.

Developed using Python and Django, it leverages these technologies to create a robust and flexible framework. Utilizes Elasticsearch for efficient management of large data volumes, ensuring fast and accurate search capabilities. Released under the GNU General Public License (GPL V3), it embraces open-source principles, promoting collaboration and transparency. Incorporates open standards to ensure interoperability and accessibility of information.
